Beginning in 1995, Tim McNally spent more than a year customizing and hand painting a 1985 Buick SkyHawk with a plaid design. After a few years, and number of letters and photos that were sent to the NJ Division of Motor Vehicles, the change in the color of the car from "red" to "plaid" was officially recognized and indicated on the vehicle's registration.   The Plaidmobile has been featured in the NY Times, on CNN, and in other internationally distributed media. It has been exhibited at the San Jose Museum of Art, in California, the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, and at art car events in California, Texas, Nevada, New York, Delaware, Maryland, and in Montreal and Toronto, Canada.
